We met for a day of river floating, eating pork loin cooked on the smoker, and conversation with much laughter. This was our first chance to meet Gwynna's man, Eric. He is a delightful guy. We see how he stole G's heart.
Proud father quizzing potential son-in-law: Do you have access to a truck with big wheels? Do you know what "No" means? Do you have dogs that hunt? What was your rank in Boy Scouts? When can we question you pastor? Etc, etc, etc... (We voted, and he passed.)
A sudden summer shower cooled things off, and we all came out on the back porch to enjoy it.
We returned for a family day with O&A, J&A, G&E and Duke at the lake house July 23rd. B&G and L&D were at Mo Ranch. This was the big event to meet Eric, Gwynna's squeeze.
We noticed that everything in the meadow was glowing pink, so we ran outside. What an incredible sunset!
Sylvia has a view of the lower falls above the pond. I found a baby salamander in the swimming pool skimmer yesterday which I relocated to the pond. I saw him happily swimming and crawling up on a wet rock this morning. I have seen two chapparals, a big mother skunk, our four cats and some deer drinking from the stream. I've planted six more sego palms around the stream since this photo was taken. They are pups from the big plant by the front walk.
From the west end of the deck we can enjoy the sounds of splashing water and four (or more) frogs singing at night.
We replaced the bridge with stepping stones for a more natural look. Here the water rushes down the hill to the pond. One of our many hammocks is in the trees down below.
