Michael, A and T had a video chat with Evelyn, her father, and her great grandparents. She watched the screen and seemed happy with her first family conference.
The vanity from A's maternal grandmother's home is in place next to the new crib in the upstairs guest room. So Evelyn will have her great-great-grandmother's dresser in her room. Tiki keeps us company and tries out the bed.
Matt, Deanna, Michael, A, and jack-o-lanterns in the European-castle-style kitchen in their new home near Heimat.
Kate is very proud of her new pink room. She showed us everything from favorite dolls to the dirty clothes bin.
Matt showed us his newly expanded office and gave Michael a tetanus shot to protect him following a nail cut.
We met the Matt Lowry family at the Smokehouse in New Braunfels for Sunday lunch. Jonathan looks at sister Kate with a lime-in-her-mouth smile. She is a real fire cracker!
John and Mildred (Kelly's parents) loaned us their GMC van to bring the vanity home.
Michael and A heft the vanity from the Bude. It belonged to her grandmother Johannaber and has been in our room at Heimat for 36 years.
When my brother Bobby was six he constructed this cement structure in the corner of the sandbox (made for the boys by Popsie). We played cars here for years.
Does anyone know from where the Mr. Spock genes came? California air and water? Wouldn't suprise me if she has his Vulcan powers too.
Granddaughter born at 6:36 P.M. PDT today: 8 lb 6 oz, 21 inches, brown hair, looks like her mother and also like Etha and Libby I think.
To make room for the baby crib we gave our brown couch to our maid, Laura. Her husband and brother-in-law carried it down from the upstairs guestroom and put it on her truck. We bought this couch over 25 years ago for the sitting room at our old house, so it has had a long life and little wear and tear.
Little Tiki is not only the Alpha Male of the 3 cats, but he is the 'mother', grooming and cuddling the other (bigger) cats. He has a combination of strength, sweetness, agility, smartness, 'attitude' and will power I have not seen in a cat before.
The water feature west of the house is now lined with tropical plants, giving it a lush and natural appearance. We enjoy relaxing to the gurgling of the three waterfalls.
A is very proud that she found this car on-line with only 18,000 miles and in mint condition (one very small gravel scratch on the hood). We flew to Dallas to pick it up at Sewell Lexus yesterday, and we took her parents, sister and nephew out to lunch at Desperado's for Tex-Mex. MMMMMM-good! This will now be our 'around town' vehicle.
The 2005 model replaces the '91 model. The old car still runs fine, but is in need of repairs (engine mounts, light bulbs, wheel balancing, and brake pads) costing almost as much as the Blue Book value of the car. We plan to sell it on Craig's List. Anyone interested?
Joe had an 'unbirthday' to celebrate his return to his childhood home. The steaks were fantastic. The icecream mountain with toasted macademia nuts and dark chocolate was almost too much!
The leaders of the American Board of Group Psychology and the American Academy of Group Psychology met all day Saturday at our annual planning retreat in Chicago. We have fun, but it is a hard-working group.
It looks like styrofoam, but it is made of cement. It is under an overhanging building and is over 30 feet high.
Chicagoan Dave Kipper reserved a place at the South Water Kitchen for our Friday night dinner. The shredded beet salad with sweet horseradish sauce and watercress and the Chicago prime filet were delicious.
We took the blue line from near our hotel (off the map top left) to downtown and transferred to the elevated brown line which took us to Fullerton Station and the theater. We enjoy riding the trains in Chicago.
We had a lovely living room (with WIFI) and a very comfortable king-sized bed. Breakfast and evening wine and cheese were complimentary. Note the Playbill of Jake's play, The Sparrow, which we saw Saturday night at the Apollo Theater. We met Jake and Sarah there, along with her mom, step dad and grandparents.
