Back from the beach

After a repast watching the gulls soar and the planes high overhead heading out for Europe we came 'home' for steak, potatoes, green beans, tomatoes and Maine maple-walnut ice cream.

There are dozens of fiberglass whales placed across Cape Cod and the Islands, each painted by a different artist. A's favorite is this one with endangered species on each side in Walk-to-the-sea Park in downtown Hyannis.

An amazing feat: A spilled the spaghetti and it caught on the oven handle! The pasta with tomato and mushroom sauce and Italian sausage was delicious.

We explored a new beach in Orleans. The tide was retreating and the tidal flats went on forever. Many families had set up camp all over the sand and shallows, and the children enjoyed the mud and water.

We took Mary and Ray Cormier out for dinner in Sandwich and checked out a couple of possible venues for Hugh Wyman and Ann Cormier's rehearsal dinner June 8, 2007. Before dinner Ray took us out for a spin in his 1937 De Soto and '37 Packard (shown here). Ray loves his old cars.

The big orange barred tabby from across the street has made friends with us. He announces his progress as he slowly crosses the street and ambles up the drive. He even went inside when the door was open yesterday. A discovered that he really loves to have his belly scratched.

We had wonderful scallops and stuffed shrimp as the sun set over the marsh. Our waitress had olive skin and strikingly light blue eyes.
