This morning we saw the two new fawns and the big mama doe by the hammock just below the back deck. From the spot pattern they are both males. They were born in the dense cedar break and composting oak litter between the driveway and the road, safe from predators and humans. The other day we saw them racing across the meadow.
Mama cardinal is feeding her hungry trio in the live oak tree just off the back deck.
A loves this hanging chair we bought in Provincetown on Cape Cod. It even has a cup and magazine holder.
The sun broke through for a minute as the dark clouds rolled in.
Would you believe that we have had over 9 inches of rain this month?!
We are setting daily records for precip beginning the first of May. And we haven't had a single hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico to blame it on. Our cats have become stir-crazy from being cooped up in the house every day.
After a hard evening shower (2 1/2 inches) the sun broke through creating this fairyland scene with raindrops glistening in the trees and grass.
A delightful surprise on our 'lost' trip home from Mo Ranch was this wonderful scene. If one looks he can see this in the distance from I-10 east of Kerrville.
We got lost on this road which was not on the map. It led to a closed crossing over the Guadalupe, so we had to back track to an open crossing.
We finally found a way across the river. The water was four feet down from its highest level last night. (Note debris on railing.)
The heavy rains last night turned the usually clear river muddy brown. Here we are crossing the North Fork of the Guadalupe on the high bridge near Mo Ranch.
Sunday dawned clear, cool, and sunny, perfect for the worship service up on the hill.
We checked into our second floor room with a balcony overlooking the night-time conversation circle.
